On October 17, 2025, 600 young people across Ogun State saw more clearly. Some for the first time in years. The occasion was the 90 Acts of Care Free Eye Screening Outreach, organized by the OOA Foundation to commemorate the 90th birthday of its Grand Patron, Sir Dr. Kesington Adebutu. What began as a celebration of a milestone became a day of transformation for in-school youths who received comprehensive eye tests, prescription eyeglasses, essential medications, and dignity packs. The numbers tell part of the story. Six hundred youths screened. Dozens fitted with glasses. Medical needs addressed. But the fuller story lies in what those numbers mean for a child who could not see the blackboard, who struggled to keep up in class, who fell behind not for lack of ability but for lack of a simple pair of lenses. Conducted in partnership with Diamed Center and St. Mary's Eye Clinic, the outreach addressed a gap in adolescent health services that often goes unnoticed. Vision problems remain one of the most undiagnosed barriers to learning in Nigeria. By bringing screenings directly to communities, the OOA Foundation removed that barrier for 600 young people. The 90 Acts of Care bore another name that day: impact.
